The Beaches
Listed below are just some of the fabulous beaches within easy reach of Higher Tregawne.
- Daymer Bay at Trebetherick, between Rock and Polzeath, boasts a big car park and shop and accepts dogs all year round. Activities include rock pooling, bucket and spading and the swimming is excellent. You can walk to Rock and also up to the church of St Enodoc and pay homage to Betjeman's grave.
- Greenaway is about a 10 – 15 minute walk from either Daymer Bay at Trebetherick or Polzeath, approached via steps or a scramble down the cliffside from the Trebetherick end. The sand is deeper and coarser here making it excellent for shell seeking, cowries in particular. A lovely place for a picnic, brilliant deep rock pooling and dogs are allowed.
- Polzeath is a wonderfully flat sandy beach where you can surf, bodyboard, rock-pool, build sandcastles, shop, eat and drink - it's all there, including a surf school and it's brilliant for bucket and spading. Dogs are not allowed on the beach in summer.
- Local beaches where dogs are allowed all year include Tregardock Beach, Trebarwith Strand and Constantine Bay
- Hawkers Cove is a good dog walking beach. To access the beach, go to the Padstow Farm Shop at Trethillick and ask for directions.
